Data Notes

Data Updates
The dashboard is updated monthly as new inspections and completed property improvements are recorded.

Protecting Resident Privacy
Information is displayed at the community level. Individual addresses and private inspection results are not shown.

Understanding Compliance Totals
Annual compliance totals are based on properties with a recorded inspection during the selected year. Properties that have not yet received an inspection for that year are not included in those totals.

Why This Work Matters

Every mitigated property helps strengthen Berkeley’s collective wildfire resilience.

Wildfire risk does not stop at a property line. Clearing combustible materials, addressing inspection findings, improving Zone 0 conditions, and installing ember-resistant materials can help reduce opportunities for wildfire to ignite or spread between properties.

The dashboard can help residents understand how these individual actions add up across the community and where continued participation is needed.

About Berkeley’s Wildfire Resilience Work

The Berkeley Fire Department works with residents in the Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone to reduce wildfire risk through defensible space inspections, vegetation management, Zone 0 improvements, home hardening, and community assistance programs.

The Berkeley Fire Wildfire Resilience Dashboard will continue to evolve as new inspection data, property improvements, and wildfire mitigation programs are added, providing an increasingly comprehensive picture of Berkeley's progress toward a more fire-resilient community.
